Adventuring With Friends.

Several weeks ago some friends of ours, Doug and Holli, visited.   We were able to spend one day adventuring together.    Our first stop was the Tillamook Air Museum.    The building that now houses the aircraft and wartime display, was built during WWII to store "K-class" blimps.  This building is overwhelmingly HUGE.

This is a "Mini-Guppy and one of the few displays you can climb inside.  It's also known as a Boeing 377 Stratocruiser.

I think the nose of this aircraft is so funny looking.  Maybe this is the reason for the name "guppy"

This section of the display kind of wierded out the kids, until they learned that it was just a resting manikin.

 We enjoyed our time at the air museum.  There is so much to see and learn.   Our next stop was the city park for a picnic lunch.  It was a beautiful sunshiny day and we are into soaking up that sun, cuz the rain is a-comin!  
Next stop  the Tillamook Cheese Factory.  And no trip is complete without posing behind this photo prop or sitting in the bus.

And The Summer Fun Continues

And then it was off to Emmett for the wedding of two good friends.  We got to stay in a travel trailer in that was parked in Ms. Judene's yard.  She took good care of us.  It was so good to see our friends again and wander around our valley.

After the wedding we went out to supper, Carson was so tired he fell asleep in this position... I took this picture just before he fell out of his chair.

Visiting with friends...

It was a quick trip to Emmett, but relaxing and very enjoyable. Good times!

Fun on the Fourth

The fourth of July dawned clear and beautiful.  *We have been blessed with fantastic weather recently blue skies and lots of sunshine and this makes my heart extra happy. 

As you can see we started the day in good spirits!

 

Drift Creek Falls Trail~  this trail is not far from Lincoln City and is located in the Siuslaw National Forrest.  The trail is 3 miles round trip with a elevation change of 400 feet.   It is listed as a easy to moderate hike.   



 

We were ready and excited to hit the trail!

One of the bridges over the creek.

This is the 240 foot suspension bridge that spans the rocky creek bed.  I must admit that my stomach did a bit of jumping around as I looked WAY down at the rocks below and felt the bridge bounce and sway as we crossed. 

The bridge was built in 1997, and is dedicated in memory of Scott Paul who died while working on the rigging.

 

The falls is described as a 75 foot "horse tail" falls.  Below:  Drift Creek Falls as viewed from the bridge.

Of course no hike is complete without a picnic lunch!  Today's lunch consisted of sandwiches from Subway.  Yummy!  I loved the rustic "picnic table". 

 

 And then rock climbing is a must!

This was such a fun hike and I thought it was very family friendly. 

 

 

During our travels we saw some great scenery.

 In the evening we enjoyed supper and fireworks with some friends. 



There was no shortage of smoke or silliness!
