Ramblings

Today, August 31, my little boy was three months old. Where has the time gone?
Some of his blog-worthy accomplishments this far are:
-Smiles that melt Mommy’s heart
-Diapers that make Daddy gag
-Very observant to his surroundings
-Occasional “conversations” with his parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, and toys
-Enjoys playing with fingers and toes
-Rolled over several times today
*This happened during a fit of rage after being left in his pack-n-play longer than he thought was necessary, so will see if he can continue this behavior under normal circumstances. (No, I am not one of those mothers that rush to their child the instant they began to cry, especially when the cries have rage-like qualities)

Well, school is here again. Bean has his own little nursery in my office. Pack-n-play, swing, bouncy seat, and lots of people to see. I did take him to the store to buy school supplies. Diapers & wipes... Not really the traditional supplies needed, but pretty necessary.

“So, is he a GOOD baby?” This question has been asked me by several people in the past 3 months. People with a look in their eye that says, “Come on you can tell me the truth” This makes me wonder, is there such a thing as a BAD baby. And if you did have a BAD baby would you really tell someone that? How would you know if your child fit into the “bad baby” category? And for that matter what is a GOOD baby? These are the questions that keep me awake at night. (No I am not serious)

This Little Piggy Went to Market.....

This week Bean has discovered his toes. He has also discovered that they are cool things to put in his mouth.
My growing boy is now 12 weeks. Weighs 11pounds 1.5 ounces and is 23 ½ inches long. He has received his first series of shots and probably did better with that than I did.

Raspberry Mocha Frappuccino

Bean had his first trip to Starbucks and really seemed to enjoy it.
He looked around, listened to the music for a little while, and promptly fell asleep. (that’s how I know he liked it)
For all of you worried readers, no he did not taste this wonderful delicacy. I kept it all to myself and enjoyed it down to the very last drop

Dog Days

“How much is that doggie in the window…..I don’t think that doggie’s for sale”

August 7, 2007

Yes, it has been a while since I’ve posted. Since Andy is home from his classes in Mississippi and has started another class online, I now have to share the computer. (Sharing does not mean that I get equal time at the computer.) It is really nice that he can study from home, so I don’t mind “sharing”.

I can’t believe that the summer is almost over and another school year is here already. My mind is beginning to “clutter” with all the things I need to do to get ready for classes. Fun, Fun!

Here are some pictures of my growing boy. He is almost 10 weeks and so much fun!

Bean’s first bath

Today was another big first. Bean’s first bath. Yes I do realize that he is 7 weeks old and should have had a bath by now. But do to the fact that his father has been gone 3 of those 7 weeks and really wanted to be a part of his first bath, we postponed it until now.
No, Bean has not been allowed to collect dirt and grime all of this time, but has endured sponge baths.
Although, his bath was a very short one, I think he enjoyed it. At least there weren’t any tears.

The adventures of Bean and his Mommy~

Today we went to Portrait Innovations and had Bean’s picture taken. Now I have been somewhat nervous about this appointment since I scheduled it, knowing it would be up to me to make the decisions. Bean, on the other hand, showed no concern for this big day until last night; evidently he was so excited that for several hours he couldn’t sleep.

Not wanting to be late, not exactly sure where I was going and wanting to dress him in the “picture outfit” after we arrived, we gave ourselves plenty of time, in fact we were about 30 minutes early. No problem (I thought) plenty of time to change his clothes. The outfit I had picked out was a very adorable white and blue pinstripe. We are ready, let the pictures begin.
Bean is smiling and talking on my lap, in an excellent mood for pictures. Then I feel a warm sensation on my leg, this can only be one of two things, so off to the changing table for a quick diaper change. Only a little wet spot on his adorable white and blue pinstripe outfit. The minutes continue to tick by… 1:15 comes and goes, the waiting room is a madhouse, children are everywhere. (An excellent time to observe parenting styles) Bean and I keep waiting; I am praying that his outfit will quickly dry, that nothing more will soil it, and that it will soon be our turn while he is still in a happy mood. Then it happens, an ominous rumbling, we quickly rush back to the changing table to survey the damage. The word “blowout” would be a correct description, but if I’m careful…. Nope time to bring out the second outfit. The minutes are still ticking, the good mood has passed. Sleep has come. Finally, an hour and half after our originally appointed time, it is our turn. Yeah! The sleepy boy was able to wake up and even give out a few smiles. After picking out the pictures that I wanted and waiting 20+ minutes for them to print, we were out of there. This adventure took us about 3 ½ hours.
Actually, Bean did very well, probably better than his Mommy and we got some great pictures!!

I did learn some valuable lessons:
Never show up early.
Bring enough food for at least 2 meals.
Bring several outfits; you never know what might happen.
